With the support of donors like USBS, WLAKids has been able to touch the lives of thousands of less fortunate children in the African nations of Kenya and Swaziland by providing scholarships, uniforms, desks, textbooks, beds, mosquito nets, hot meals, clean water, sanitary stations and other critical resources.
Over the years, USBS’s dedication to philanthropy has been wide-reaching. Other contributions include donations to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and, most recently, to Comic Relief, Inc. during this year’s Red Nose Day. USBS and its employees have also participated in multiple American Red Cross blood donation drives and AIDS Walk Los Angeles, along with contributing to relief efforts in Taiwan due to Typhoon Morakot in 2009 and also efforts in Japan due to the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami.
Women Leaders in Action (WLA) is a women’s resource group whose mission is to connect high performing women in order to provide support for community-based programs. The mission of their charity, WLAKids, is to provide basic services and education assistance to orphans and other vulnerable children in Africa.
